156 Suspected Criminals Grabbed By Police In Accra

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has rounded up some 156 suspected criminals after a swoop under a new tactical satrategy.

Codenamed: “Operation No Space For Criminals In Accra,” the five-day operation and incursions is aimed to rid the capital region of criminals of all sorts of variety, explains Public Relations Officer of the Accra Region Police Command, DSP Afia Tenge.

“The five-day operation which began on March 3rd targeted locations noted to be harbouring criminals, cemeteries, ghettos, markets and other similar areas across the 14 divisions in Accra.”

“Those arrested were mostly drug dealers found with quantities of narcotic substances and tramadol. Others were also arrested with concoctions mixed with the same narcotic substances which were being sold to their customers,” she said.

The suspects are being screened and interrogated, she said. Those found guilty will be arraigned before court.

As for the new operation, under which the Police will make swoops and incursions into criminal territories, she said it will continue so as to put crime under heavy muscle.

“It is an operation that has just begun and we hope to continue until the criminals change their nefarious activities,” said Tenge.
