Asogli King Fights Back On Wild Narratives Around Volta Soldier Deployment

The Overlord of Asogli, Togbui Afede XIV, addressed what the Asogli State Council describes as inaccurate reportage around former President John Dramani Mahama’s recent visit to Asogli.

In a statement from the Council, signed by Secretary, Stephen Tetteh, the Agbogbomefia’s real speech was rehabilitated into contest, correcting that Togbui had indeed addressed the recent deployment of soldiers to the Volta Region but had focused his address on pure lies that had been peddled to invent an excuse for the deployment.

“Togbe did speak about the recent deployment of soldiers and other security personnel in various parts of the Volta Region. However, Togbe’s focus yesterday was on what he thought was the reason: the lies that have been told about the importation of masses of people from neighbouring countries up to three weeks ahead of registration or voting,” the statement said.

It also corrected what it said were other inaccuracies in news reports that President Mahama’s visit generated.

“First, there was a report that Togbe Afede XIV said “the country for almost four years under the leadership of H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo has seen joblessness”. We want to state categorically that, Togbe Afede XIV lamented about poverty and joblessness in Ghana, but did not make any mention of, or reference to, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, the NPP Government or any Political Party in his comment on

poverty and joblessness.”

It urged the media to be circumspect in their reportage to avoid misleading headlines and news content.
