Armed Robbers Butcher Dep. Upper West regional minister

Disturbing information picked up from the Upper West Region tells of how the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Amidu Issahaku Chinnia, has been hacked with cutlasses by suspected armed robbers.

The attackers who were on motorbikes, ambushed the minister around 9 pm on Thursday, May 21, 2020. The Minister has reportedly just left his Sombo residence in the regional capital, Wa when he was attacked.

It is unclear the motive of the attack, as the Minister was rescued by a police motorbike patrol before any more damage could be inflicted.

The terrified deputy minister reportedly sustained deep cutlass cuts on his right arm and has been rushed to the Hospital. The state of his condition is currently not clear at the time of going to press.

The attackers have since fled as the Police has been unable to make any arrest. The Upper West Police Command has said that investigations have been opened into the incident.

The Upper West appears to be a hotspot for attacks on prominent figures in the society. On May 9, 2019, Richard Bayiviala Polibong, the chairman of the Daffiama-Busie-Issah constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was shot and killed by an armed gang.
