The Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s Cape Coast North Constituency, Stephen Kojo Arhin, has warned of consequences for people who are criticizing the recent flirtation that the MP for the area with bodybuilders or “Macho men”.
Mr. Arhin warns that those criticizing Hon. Barbara Asher Ayisi’s recent spraying of huge sums of alleged public funds on bodybuilders as potential mercenaries during the elections would be dealt with ruthlessly.
Speaking to the media, he said he was aware that detractors were from within his own party and that if they do not stop, they will be traced and dealt with. In his chilling warning, he hinted that the bodybuilders would be unleashed on critics of Barbara Ayisi.
Hon. Asher Ayisi became the talk of the town when she splashed some Ghc10,000 to the he-men at the Abura gym.
It is believed that the token is meant to water the grounds for her to recruit their services for the 2020 election.
For many, the donation to macho men at a time that most of her constituents are struggling to feed themselves because of the difficulties brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic is insensitive.
However responding, the Cape Coast North NPP Chair, Stephen Arhin said the MP had donated the money out of her own volition and no one has the right to be angry over how the MP spends her money.
According to her, the money is meant to help with the refurbishment of the gym and that there is no reason to quibble over it.
For him, what was most unfortunate is that the detraction is emanating from within his own party. He, therefore, advised the party members to stop what they are doing and rather promote the works of President Akufo-Addo.
