The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Ken Agyapong in an attempt to deny contents of a video confession of alleged killer of the NPP MP for Abuakwa North J.B Danquah Adu has rather left curiously gaping holes in his narration.
In his regular monologue-like talk show on his Net 2 television station on Wednesday, Ken Agyapong flatly denied allegations levelled against him by Daniel Asiedu (Alias Sexy Dondon), the alleged killer of the late J.B Danquah.
First of all, Ken Agyapong claimed the video recording cannot possibly be from the maximum-security prison currently holding Daniel Adiedu and that the face of the confessor in the video did not correspond to the face of the real Daniel Asiedu.
He went on to deflect another allegation by Daniel Asiedu that he [Ken Agyapong] had met with him to plan the murder and that Ken Agyapong was wearing a “Fugu”. To that allegation, Ken Agyapong claims he had only worn Fugu once in his life.
However, hardly had he finished denying the allegation than him validating some of the things said by the alleged Daniel Asiedu in the video recording.
According to Ken Agyapong, a now-retired Police Officer had told him that Amadu Bukari Sorogho, a former MP for the Abokobi-Madina constituency was involved in the murder and that and for the alleged Sexy Dondon captured in the video confession from prison to have mentioned that same name, it means the alleged killer is telling the truth.
“For this boy to come and confirm what the Police Officer told me, it means the boy is speaking the truth,” Ken Agyapong said as he validated several other names mentioned in the video confession.
His denial of the credibility of the video and the identity of the confessor directly contradicts his validation of some of the narration in the video.
Ken Agyapong has been fingered by Daniel Asiedu as the henchman who contracted him to assassinate J.B Danquah. According to the alleged killer, it was Ken Agyapong who drove him to the residence of the murdered MP for the assassination to be carried out. He also said Ken Agyapong was the first person he called after he had succeeded his mission.
Ken Agyapong who had earlier stated that the deceased MP was just a mere acquaintance by virtue of both of them being members of Parliament, curiously confirmed that besides security agents, he [Ken Agyapong] was the first person to get to J.B Danquah’s house after he was killed.
The exact reason for his decision to drive at dawn to the house of an alleged “mere acquaintance” after his murder is still a mystery.
Meanwhile, Ken Agyapong has descended on his own party saying God will judge them over the poor handling of the murder of former MP J.B Danquah Adu.
“…that is the
impression I get. That a whole NPP Member of Parliament has died, you’ve come
to power you’ve not done anything about this man. I will not sit down for
anybody to disgrace me in the name of NPP, I will not, I don’t even care if
they sack me from the party. I will not sacrifice my life for anybody for disgrace.
We are in power, a whole MP for our party has died, he died when we were in
opposition and you cannot do any investigation now in power because you are all
comfortable and enjoying your positons. God will judge all of us.”
Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu who was a Ghanaian chartered accountant from a
prominent political family was a member of the Parliament of Ghana for the New
Patriotic Party between 2005 and 2009, and once more from 2013 until his death.
On 9th February 2016, he was stabbed dead in the early hours of the morning.
Subsequently, the police arrested a man for the murder. The man, Daniel Asiedu,
later confessed to killing the MP, in a struggle as he tried to rob him, and
was charged with murder.
For the past four years, the highly politicised case has gone through a
roller-coaster trial in court as no end appears to be in sight.
