Coronavirus: Let’s support Akufo-Addo – Mahama to former appointees

The leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has asked all former appointees of his erstwhile government who were in the frontline in the fight against Ebola to support efforts of the government.

In a Facebook live broadcast, the leader of the country’s largest opposition urged his former appointees to support the effort of the government in the fight against the deadly novel coronavirus.

“I have instructed my communications team and my public health advisors to support any efforts by the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health in this particular regard. I have also asked all former appointees of my administration who assisted in our readiness efforts during the ebola epidemic to aid the government in whatever way they can if requested to do so.”

“This virus is an enemy to all Ghanaians, and the call to duty in the fight against it rises above partisanship and politics.” he said.

According to him, the measure of Ghana’s greatness was in times like this.

“Let’s remember that the measure of our nation’s greatness is in times of crisis,” he noted, while rallying Ghanaians to take their personal hygiene top-notch by adhering to the directive of the Ghana Health Service.

“Misinformation and mistrust are our enemy in this fight,” he said.

Mr Mahama, who is seeking reelection in the upcoming 2020 general election, has put his regional tours on hold in compliance with the government’s directives to halt all social gatherings, political and religious activities.
