Killer Corona Virus Crosses Border To UK -Ghana, Others in the Crosshair

The Novel Coronavirus named “2019-nCoV” that has devastated China in the past two weeks has reportedly crossed over to the United Kingdom as six people have been quarantined.

According to the British Mirror, the six had travelled from China and had shown tell-tale signs of a flu infection.

“Six people who travelled to the UK from the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak are being tested in UK hospitals after showing signs of the SARS-like infection.
Three patients are being treated in Edinburgh, with two in Glasgow and one in Belfast,” the newspaper stated amidst growing fear that it is just a matter of time that a Chinese national or a Ghanaian returning from China will sneak the deadly disease into Ghana.
Already, the US have recorded suspicious cases from people returning from China. Japan, South Korea, Thailand have also been on high alert following reports that infected patients may have crossed into those countries.
The superflu has been described internationally as a “Never before seen”. It has so far affected over 400 people and 17 of them have reportedly died within two weeks of the outbreak.
The UK’s Daily Mail a few hours ago reported on a disturbing footage showing infected people in the town of Wuhan in China literally dropping dead on the streets.
China is currently reported to be building an ultra-modern containment facility in six days to quarantine infected patients.
In Ghana, authorities appear to be laid back about the magnitude of the potential epidemic.
The The Ghana Health Services (GHS) earlier this week, issued a statement re-echoing the alerts received from the World Health Organisation (WHO) offices in China.
Beside warnings by the GHS for travellers to and from China, not other emergency arrangement has been officially communicated.
Already, Ghana is suffering a dearth of health facilities, as several constructed by the previous administration have been left to rot away.
