The Special Adviser on Strategy and Political Matters to the Governor of Oyo State, Babatunde Oduyoye, has condemned the letter written by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, asking Governor Seyi Makinde to reverse his dissolution of councils in the state.
In the letter, the AGF said in view of the decision of the Supreme Court on the matter that was binding on all the 36 states, “The common practice by some governors in dissolving elected local government councils is unconstitutional, null and void.

Oduyoye said the letter was sub judice, because the subject was already before a court.
The governor’s aide in a statement on Tuesday said as far as the matter was before the Court of Appeal, no one was expected to take extra-constitutional measures.
He said, “The matter is in court and as far as we are concerned, it is sub judice. Malami has committed an obvious blunder by taking a step against the interest of the judiciary and the constitution he was meant to protect.
“The state government is not oblivious of the intent of some elements in the All Progressives Congress to plunge Oyo into crisis and possibly make it ungovernable.”
He added that the letter was aimed at frustrating the Seyi Makinde government.
He warned the Federal Government to be wary of its action, especially affecting the local government issue in the state.
