-Oda River & Forest Reserve is Litmus test.
The fiery promise by President Akufo Addo that he will eradicate illegal mining in the country has been proven a ruse by the latest discovery of catastrophic destruction of Oda River by illegal gold miners in the activities popularly dubbed “Galamsey”.
A Thursday, January 16, 2020, unannounced visit to the Oda River Forest Reserve by the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Kweku Asumah Kyeremeh exposed the level of damage done to both the forest reserve and the Oda river that runs through it.
An overwhelmed District Forest Manager for the Bekwai District, Ransford Twum Damoah told Accra-based Joy News that he is convinced powerful individuals in the current government are behind the illegal mining activity, “…we came here with all forces and they also had military protection,” Mr. Damoah lamented. “I will tell you certain forces are behind…big men are behind all this.”
When asked if he can identify the “big men” Mr Damoah paused, adding, “…we don’t know them but we know some of their boys.”
The Minister who has been left clueless by the destructive spectacle admitted the failure of the Akufo Addo administration to fight the illegal mining activities, contrary to the glowing promises made by President Akufo Addo in the first into his administration.
Following a destructive streak of Ghana’s water bodies and forest reserves by illegal Chinese gold miners and their Ghanaian collaborators, President Akufo Addo in 2017, vowed that he will annihilate the menace and went ahead to throw a challenge that he will do that at the expense of his Presidency.
However, his actions since the bold pronouncement have proven to be a mere lip-service. Indeed, his government has been fingered for actively protecting a notorious Chinese illegal miner-Aisha Huang. The infamous Ms. Huang is also known as the “Galamsey Queen”. She has allegedly murdered someone who tried in mining-related dispute.
When she was finally, captured to face trial, the Attorney General Department dragged its feet and she was eventually flown out of the country to China secretly. When confronted about the double standard, Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo, categorically stated that the Akufo Addo administration was not interested in punishing the notorious Chinese miner because Ghana was sourcing some US$ 2 billion financing from China.
A more damning pointer to the complicity of the Akufo Addo administration in the Galamsey activity was revealed mid-2019 when Presidential Staffer and the Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue was exposed in the first of a two-part investigative series titled “Galamsey Fraud”.
Mr. Bissue was exposed by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw when he was secretly filmed taking a first-tranche inducement of GHC 15,000 out of GHC 50,000 to “Fast-track” the illegal mining operations of Orr Resources, a dummy illegal mining company set up by Anas Aremeyaw’s Tiger Eye PI investigative team.
Since the airing of the explosive first part of Galamsey Fraud, Whatsup News gathered that pressure from powerful quarters within the government have been exerted on Anas Aremyaw to hold on to the release of the even more explosive second part.
Mr. Bissue has remained a Presidential Staffer since the incident which points at a deeper illegal mining mafia operating from the Jubilee House.
Prez Rejects Resignation Of Bonking Kan-Dapaah
President Akufo Addo has reportedly rejected resignation letter tendered in by the embattled National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah, after the intense embarrassment caused by his near-naked video hitting the streets.
Online news portal GhanaXtra.com is reporting authoritatively that it caught wind of the resignation letter being tendered in on Monday 14th January 2019, but President Akufo Addo refused to accept it and asking the sweltering minister to remain at post.
According to the report which Whatsup News has not independently verified yet, during a two-hour meeting with the President, he strongly rebuked the randy minister but asked him to stay on given his “enviable public life over the years and his dedication to work.”
Mr. Dapaah has been a subject of mockery the entire week when his “Slay Queen” mistress Selassie Gertrude Bedzo released a damning video of him engaged in a raunchy video call with her, in what is dubbed “sexting” in urban parlance.
In the video, Mr. Kan-Dapaah who was obviously on assignment in an unnamed European country.
The video showed him literally role-playing the “dirty-old-man in a lovey-dovey” in his pyjamas. At the command of his mistress who is incidentally well-connected to the Jubilee House, Mr. Dapaah did a catwalk and showed off his sensual side by saying a hug from his mistress will “put me to sleep”.
Unknown to him, his mistress was feverishly recording all his displays. The tape was mysteriously leaked amidst serious speculations that his rivals at the Jubilee House had set him up to be disgraced so that they can have his job.
Whatsup News has gathered from insiders that Mr. Kan Dapaah is already engrossed in a serious power play with Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of State responsible for National Security and the National Security Coordinator Joshua Kyeremeh.
