7,500 teachers fail Licensure Exams

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has released the results of the third Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) showing that about 7,500 teachers failed.

Approximately 27,171 out of the 34,724 candidates who sat for the examination representing 78.2% passed, leaving out 7,500 who could not sail through the strict precondition.

A statement from the NTC explained that six of the candidates, who were impersonated, had their entire results cancelled.

Candidates who sat for the exams have been asked to check their results online.

The licensure examination is designed to ensure teacher quality in the country. It is also aimed at improving professionalism among teachers.

The first examination was held on September 10, 2018, covering essential teaching skills, numeracy (basic calculation) and literacy.
