The Police in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, have launched a manhunt for one Kofi Marfo, following the discovery of two decomposed bodies in an uncompleted building at Apemso, a suburb.
The 27-year-old man is suspected to have murdered the victims, who are believed to be his children, and dumped them in the uncompleted building.
Residents of the area discovered the partially decomposed bodies and then raised an alarm.
An Assemblyman for the area, Emmanuel Oduro subsequently reported the find to the Kwame Nkrumah University Police.
The Police say that when they went to convey the bodies, they had decomposed beyond recognition.
But after word had been sent out about the suspected murder, a 26-year-old woman, Faustina Antwiwaa, called at the Police Station and reported her suspicion that the children are hers.
According to her, Elizabeth Opoku, 4 and Kelvin Owusu, 2 had been picked up by their father, Kofi Marfo, on the 5th of September, with the understanding that Mr. Marfo was taking them to their grandparents in Sefwi.
Since then, she has neither heard from her children nor their father, with whom she had issues.
She is reported to have said that she is not categorically certain that the decomposed bodies are those of her children but is very suspicious because of the strange circumstances that characterized the aftermath of the kids’ father taking them away from her.
Mr. Kofi Marfo has since been at large. The Police has asked the public to volunteer information about his whereabouts.
