Afenyo-Markin & Dr. Samuel Ofori Bekoe After Humiliation At Ghana’s Supreme Court

The Way Forward For Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin & Dr. Samuel Ofori Bekoe After Humiliation At Ghana’s Supreme Court 

Nothing causes as much frustration and bitterness as the current predicament that Samuel Ofori Bekoe, Prof. Avoke, Theophilus Ackorlie, and some other dismissed officers of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), are currently faced with. 

In May 2017, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Martin, the outgoing Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu, aka Radio Lawyer, and failed Board Chairman of the Ghana Water Co. Ltd (GWCL), acting in concert with a certain Supi Kofi Kwayera, initiated a process at the Winneba High Court that in the short run, led to the dismissals of Prof. Avoke, Theophilus Ackorlie, and others, and in the long run, Dr. Samuel Ofori Bekoe followed suit for threatening to ‘butcher’ some members of the UEW Governing Council with a machete. 

Having failed to secure his much sought after position of ‘Co-Vice-Chancellor (CVC) of UEW on the assumption of office of Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni as Vice-Chancellor (VC) of UEW, Afenyo-Markin, the same person who started the process at the Winneba High Court that subsequently got Prof. Avoke and some others dismissed from UEW, then shamelessly turned around to pitch camp with Prof. Avoke, with the biggest lie of the Century that, he Afenyo-Markin, would get them reinstated at UEW! 

It is saddening that, a whole Professor, threw every caution to the wind, and succumbed to the outright lies of Afenyo-Markin. 

Afenyo-Markin is not God, neither is he wise or strategic; so how can he reinstate a dismissed officer of UEW? 

A series of unpatriotic and other unconstitutional schemes, including a sponsored demonstration of alleged group of students; a failed coup led by Prof. Avoke and some dismissed officers of UEW and a few silly sympathizers; a pathetic and bogus Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) Report (described by a Court of competent jurisdiction as doubtful), were then rolled out by Afenyo-Markin, and unfortunately, Prof. Avoke subscribed to these doomed schemes like a dog on a leash! What a disaster! 

In the latter part of 2019, Afenyo-Markin devised another outmoded scheme to get Dr. Samuel Ofori Bekoe, reinstated as a lecturer at UEW. This was after Bekoe lost both his initial application for reinstatement at the Cape Coast High Court 2, and a review application to the same Court.

The outmoded plan was a Certiorari application to Ghana’s highest Court, that is, the Supreme Court, seeking to quash the holding of the Cape High Court 2. 

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in a bid to show mercy to Bekoe, prayed the Cape Coast High Court 2, to stay proceedings for thirty (30) days, in order to give opportunity to all dismissed officers of UEW, including Dr. Samuel Ofori Bekoe, to petition the Governing Council in respect of their dismissals. This kind gesture and show of magnanimity request was granted by the Court. 

However, to show the university where power lies, Prof. Avoke, Dr. Samuel Ofori Bekoe, and all the other dismissed officers, in an open show of defiance, coupled with gross disrespect and careless reasoning, refused to take advantage of this olive branch. 

The Court subsequently delivered its ruling on the expiration of the amnesty, which upheld their dismissals by the UEW Governing Council. 

The Supreme Court of Ghana, in a unanimous decision delivered on Wednesday 12th February, 2020, ‘shredded’ Afenyo-Markin’s Certiorari application, and effectively ‘killed’ off the remote reinstatement hopes of Samuel Ofori Bekoe. 

Bekoe is counseled freely to sit back and reflect on where it all went wrong, and advise himself accordingly. 

Bekoe was the President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) UEW Chapter; Convocation Representative on UEW Governing Council; and Acting Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences Education. 

Lies can NEVER get Bekoe anywhere near compensation or reinstatement at UEW. Therefore, Bekoe is counseled to steer clear of the baby with very sharp teeth, whose stock-in-trade is peddling of outright falsehoods, dealing in hopeless black magic and occultism, and rather petition the UEW Governing Council for clemency. 

With a Professor of Law Chairing the Council and ably supported by a traditional ruler, a Rev. Father, and other knowledgeable persons in their subject areas, it is hoped that, Bekoe might draw the sympathetic ears of the Council. 

Bekoe should know that, petitioning former President Rawlings’ office, is as useless as not petitioning it in the first instance. In the current constitutional set up, a former President can only appeal to the relevant authorities, but CANNOT compel anyone, or turn shameful falsehoods into the gospel truth. 

The hard truth is, which former President compelled Rawlings to do anything when he was in power from 31st December, 1981 to 7th January, 2001? None!!!

Paradoxically, Rawlings rather lined up three (3) former Heads of State of this country (Generals Afrifa, Acheampong and F. W. K. Akuffo) as well as several others and shot them to death without a trial. Under his watch as Ghana’s Head of State, High Court judges, including a nursing mother as well as a retired Army Major, were abducted and killed. Jerry Rawlings did absolutely nothing about these human rights abuses.  

Therefore, Rawlings has no moral right whatsoever, to appeal to a sitting President or a Governing Council for anything. 

Rawlings should count himself lucky that, he has not been served the type of instant justice he meted out to fellow Ghanaians. Rawlings’ administration was worse than all the administrations of Afrifa, Acheampong and F. W. K. Akuffo, put together. 

As for Afenyo-Markin, he can eat shit, die and go to hell!! This is the perfect cure for people like Afenyo-Markin, who foolishly believe that they are “God”. Only God can make or unmake. Afenyo-Markin has NO power whatsoever to reinstate anyone at UEW! 

Indeed, I am fully aware of the efforts being made by some known thugs of Afenyo-Markin to hire hit men to shoot the VC (Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni) and I to death. 

Anyone, planning whatsoever evil against Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni or myself, shall accordingly be rewarded with their evil and satanic plots, Insha Allah!!
