Massive Transfers hit Minerals Commission Over Galamsey

Several officers at the Minerals Commission of Ghana have been hacked off their headquarters in Accra and have been transferred to various regional and district offices across the country.

The move is reportedly aimed at ensuring efficiency at the Commission, however, critics see it as a blow over from the raging illegal mining conversation in the country.

It is believed that some of these individuals may have been complicit in the illegal mining activities going on in the country.

The shake-up at the Commission is part of ongoing reforms to decentralize the licensing regime and enhance monitoring of mining operations.

Meanwhile, some employees are being trained in critical areas such as mineral economics, metal finance, ventilation, and geotechnical engineering to improve their skills and knowledge.
