Philip Addison, the Lawyer who was lead Counsel for President Akufo-Addo during the 2012 Presidential election petition by Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is going to run as an Independent Candidate for the Akwapem North Parliamentary seat.
Posters of Lawyer Addison have popped up in that Constituency which has traditionally been an NPP seat, and apparently the poster was carefully designed to ensure not a single semblance of the NPP is found in it.
Mr. Addison is seen in a suit smiling in a pose that lends his profile to the camera. The design is emblazoned with VOTE LAWYER PHILIP ADDISON, INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE, AKUAPEM NORTH CONSTITUENCY.”
Two crossed traditional royal swords is embossed in the background of the poster to complete it.
In March this year, Lawyer Philip Addison was disqualified from contesting the NPP’s Akuapem North primary for the 2020 Parliamentary ticket, under the pretext that he has not been paying homage to the party.
The NPP intriguingly put it as Mr. Addison not “nurturing the party at the constituency level.
He had been hoping to unseat the incumbent and Deputy Minister for Information Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei, after an earlier contest of the Klottey Koley seat in Accra had ended in a loss against the NDC’s Zenator Rawlings in 2016.The posters of Mr. Addison has been around for a couple of weeks now, and he has not made any official statement about it, in what has reinforced suspicion that it is indeed authentic.
