The Commander of the Nima Divisional Police, ACP Abraham Acquaye says he is amused and baffled by the level of audacity exhibited by some unidentified thieves who were able to break into the typing pool of the Nima Divisional Police Commands office.
The thieves who raided the police station earlier this morning made away with a 32-inch television set and a monitor according to ACP Acquaye.
“It amuses me at times that some criminals will have the audacity, the impudence of a dying cockroach to even want to do this at a police station,” he said.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb this morning, the Nima Divisional Police Commander, ACP Abraham Acquaye said the break-in was noticed this morning around 6:00 am when officers came in to begin their daily work.
On how the thieves gained access to the office, ACP Acqauye said they were able to gain access to the office by taking away an air-conditioner fitted into the window of the office, thereby creating the space to enter the office.
“Because of the base of the air-condition, they were able to get in. We are using the old type where you install the air-condition and with the base, you create a space in the window and then you put it. So that’s how they were able to get into the office,” ACP Acquaye said.
He added that contrary to earlier media reports, which indicated that the thieves made away with sets of television, laptops as well as uniforms belonging to some officers, the Divisional Commander said an inventory of items in the office has so far revealed that only a 32 inch Nasco television set and an obsolete computer monitor were taken away by the thieves.
On the matter of investigations, ACP Acquaye informed GhanaWeb that the act by the thieves is a dare to the police service for which it will ensure they are brought to book to prove that the police is on top their game.
“For us, we are bent on fighting crime and if people like this dare us that is what also motivates us to also prove to the public that we are on top of our game.
I am amused by the audacity – Nima commander on break in at Police Station.
“When the crime is committed it is our responsibility to investigate and apprehend the offenders. So, we have resolved to wage war against such criminals. This to me is something that we can get to the bottom especially with the help our informants and other techniques that we have put in place believe me that within a short time we will come out with the suspects and let the whole public know about that,” he said.
