KKD Narrates Government’s Parley With Tema Motorway Highway Robbers

Ace Ghanaian Master of Ceremonies, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa, has narrated robberies that he suffered on the Accra Tema Motorway and the Tema Police’ virtual nonchalance moves by the cops to rather punish him the victim after he reported the crime.

In a video monologue that was apparently recorded with a phone, the iconic MC speaks of how the motorway has become a death trap due to potholes, and how those who are fortunate not to die after they have been impeded by the potholes find themselves at the mercy of armed robbers.

And the armed robbers have their way with victims because the Police has neglected to deploy patrol officers on the motorway.

“This is a great bother but somebody has to say it; is the government assisting armed robbers to ply their trade? Is the government assisting thieves and murderers to ply their trade?” he asks in the opening of the monologue.

In his harrowing experience, he reveals that after he had been constrained to stop and change a flat tire, armed robbers first attacked by pelting stones at him and when he walked away to safety leaving his car behind, he returned later to find out that his belongings, including an iPhone, money, shoes and a walking cane had been taken away.

In an earlier experience, he reveals an armed robber had shot at him and in his defense, he had hit him with his car before driving to a police station in Tema to report. However, the Tema police was rather more interested in impounding his car than going to arrest the armed robber.

K.K.D would eventually conclude the video on a defeatist note, “Sad country we have, Ghana my motherland, sad country we have become.”

Below is a full transcription of his monologue.

“This is a great bother but somebody has to say it; is the government assisting armed robbers to ply their trade? Is the government assisting thieves and murderers to ply their trade,” he said.

“You know the motorway is a death trap, the potholes on the motorway contribute to the death trap – you hit a pothole on the motorway, you stop to change your tire, armed robbers come and get you and if you flee, they come and get all the stuff from your car. Sometimes even your spare tire is stolen. Well this evening I have suffered the same.”
