Five MPs File Motion To Have 2020 Elections Probed

Five Members of Parliament have jointly filed a private member’s motion to have the 2020 election probed by Parliament.

They are MP for Asawase, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak; MP for Bolga East, Dr Dominic Ayine; MP for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor; Buem MP, Kofi Adams and MP for Salaga South, Zuweira Ibrahimah.

Among others, the nine-point motion highlights issues of pre-thumb printed ballot papers in the Ashanti Region, the discovery of excess ballot papers during the period and multiple declarations of results after the polls.

The MPs also want alleged procurement breaches at the Electoral Commission to be investigated and an inquiry into the violence in some six constituencies during and after the 2020 polls.

They also want the committee to probe the issues to be chaired by a member of the Minority.

Recently, the NDC’s Director of Elections, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, revealed how the NPP used the Ashanti Region to rig the 2020 elections through machinations including the overprinting of ballot papers and the suspected stuffing of ballot boxes with pre-thumb printed ballot papers by people from the ruling party with the complicity of the Electoral Commission.
