Recalcitrant Adwoa Safo Holds Akufo Addo’s Balls

The continued truancy of Sarah Adwoa Safo, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection who doubles as the Dome-Kwabenya MP, has raised serious eyebrows about why President Akufo Addo is unable to fire her.

There are unverified speculations that Adwoa Safo has a strong hold on President Akufo Addo. According to the circulating reports, one of the reasons why Adwoa Sarfo is refusing to return and not earn a reprimand from the President is because somebody of high rank at the Jubilee House may have sexually harassed the MP, leading to her forced exile.

The President who has the power to hire and fire ministers without necessarily has continued to tolerate Adwoa’s Safo’s truancy, leading to a reinforcement of the raging speculation that she may indeed have a certain hold on the President, such that he is unable to replace her at the ministerial portfolio.

Consequently, Adwoa Safo has been on an undue sabbatical in the United States for several months now, abandoning her constituency and her role as a minister while she continues to draw taxpayers’ money as salary.

It was revealed recently by her the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong that while cooling off in the USA, the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare had wired over GHC 120,000 to her and had hired a private jet for her to Ghana to vote on the controversial e-levy.

The inexplicable preferential treatment being given to Adwoa Safo is leading more critics to conclude that a deep conspiracy between her and the Jubilee House is being covered up.

Meanwhile, Adwoa Safo who is being described as “Tik Tok MP” for her social media antics, has attributed her long absence from Parliament to family issues.

She recently spoke to Accra-based JoyNews, claiming her reason for remaining in the United States is that her son is unwell.

“As you know, my son is unwell and has to transition to school, so I have to ensure that all that is settled before I can resume my duties and that is exactly what I am doing,” she said.

She claimed her commitment was informed by regulations in the US.

“I have been doing a lot to take care of my children which the law requires and as you know here in the foreign land, I have to comply with whatever I am directed to do and until all that is sorted out, I have to do what I have to do, and then I will return to my duties.”

It is unclear how serious the illness of her son is because, since May 17, 2021, she has been posting activities of her son, Kelvin Agyapong who is supposedly ill delivering speeches in school, being gifted with an expensive Supercar as his birthday gift and being admitted to “a most prestigious High School”.

Meanwhile, for the umpteenth time, Adwoa Safo claims she has not abandoned her constituency and that she would return, but cannot tell when.

“I will be returning definitely to serve my people. I lead and serve the people of Dome-Kwabenya and I have done that for the past 12 years and I know exactly what my responsibilities are, and I am definitely going to do that.”

She was expected to appear before the Privileges Committee of Parliament on May 27 because of her 15-day absence from Parliament without the Speaker’s permission.

The MP, however, claimed she was not invited.

“As we speak, I don’t know that I have been invited. I have to be served. I am not aware any such thing has been given to me. I am just hearing it from you,” she said during the interview.
