Special Prosecutor Charges Bribe-Prone Juaben DCE Corruption

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has charged District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Juaben Municipal Assembly with corruption.

The embattled DCE had openly demanded a refund of bribes that he had paid for Assembly members to confirm him after his nomination had been rejected.

In a release to the press, the SP, Kissi Agyebeng, announced that Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka, has been charged with 26 counts of corruption for the act.

“The Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) has charged the nominee for the position of Chief Executive of Juaben Municipal Assembly, Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kanatanka with 26 counts of corruption in respect of a public election – arising out of two public elections conducted in September and November 2021 for the confirmation or otherwise of his nomination,” the release said.

It added, “Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka will be arraigned before the High Court (Criminal Division), Kumasi on Wednesday 1 June 2022.”

It would be recalled that in September 2021, a video recording capturing Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka demanding the bribes he had paid to Assembly members to confirm his nomination as MCE after his nomination had been rejected, hit social media.

In the video, an angry Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka almost started fisticuffs with some of the Assembly members whom he blamed for collecting the bribe and then refusing to vote for his confirmation.
