Wild Night Clubbing Forces Akufo-Addo To Skip Abetifihene’s 30th Anniversary

President Akufo-Addo was conspicuously absent at the 30th-anniversary commemoration of the ascension of Nana Akyemfuor Aseidu III to the stool of Abetifi Kwahu in the Eastern Region over the weekend.

The President did not attend even though he had been invited as the special guest of honor and his Presidential chair, which he carries along on his travels had been prepared in expectation of his coming.

Whatsup News has been finding out that the reason for the disappointing absence was possibly a hangover from too much booze and partying at the Kwahu Easter jamboree.

Sources close to the President reveal Mr. Akufo-Addo had spent the eve of the Abetifihene’s durbar in a nightclub owned by Minister of State at the Interior Ministry, Bryan Acheampong.

The president had partied deep into the night in the club located in Bryan Acheampong’s Rock City and had retired to bed in a house owned by one of the Sikkens brothers at Obome.

The Sikkens brothers also own the plush Alisa Hotel in Accra.

Consequently, the next day, he just could not wake up early enough and is said to have nursed a serious hangover from the previous night’s wild partying.

Therefore he did not turn up as expected at the Abetifihene’s 30th-anniversary durbar.

According to unhappy protocol officers who have spoken to Wahtsup News, the President’s absence means that Ghc100, 000 that was blown on security preparations had gone waste.

The source explains that anytime the President travels, at least Ghc100, 000 is spent to ensure adequate security for him and his special gold-plated chair which he travels everywhere with.

In his absence, Mr. Bryan Acheampong, a prominent Kwahu man, attended and donated Ghc100, 000 to the Kwahu Traditional Council on his own behalf.

And on behalf of the President, Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong donated a paltry Ghc10l, 000.

Akufo-Addo’s wild night clubbing which reportedly caused him to miss the Abetifihene’s 30th-anniversary durbar will call into question, for many, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo’s claims in the past that Akufo-Addo is kept awake at night because of Ghana’s problems.

Meanwhile, former President John Mahama who had also been invited attended the program and when he was introduced, he became the cynosure of attention.

The Abetifihene was joined on the procession Sunday (April 17, 2022) by other leading royals including the Akwamuhene of Abetifi, Berima Danso Brefo I and Ohemaa Amanua who rode in separate palanquins during the hour-long procession to the durbar grounds at the forecourt of the palace.
