If Slaps Is What Will Make Deputy Speaker Sober, Then Slap Him …General Mosquito

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has said that the Ghanaian people have a duty imposed on them to fight the impunity that festering under the tyrannical government of Akufo-Addo.

In an address to members of the Ashanti Regional branch of the NDC, Mr. Asiedu Nketia, popularly called General Mosquito, implied that it, therefore, behooves on all to fight the impunity with whatever means that is available including dirty slaps for any Deputy Speaker who tries to thwart due process in Parliament.

“So long as impunity will not stop, resistance has been imposed on us as a duty. And so if the Speaker or some deputy Speaker says he will be a referee and then kick penalty and then whistle for goal, if it is slaps that will bring him to sobriety then, by all means, slap him so that he becomes sober,” General Mosquito said to wild applause.

The statement resonated with many due to the fact that it is coming in the aftermath of the infamous e-levy fight in which some combatant NDC MPs threw a couple of slaps at NPP MPs who tried to thwart due process to pass the e-levy.

“And so if Nana Akufo-Addo wants Parliament to return to calm, Parliament will return to calm,” General Mosquito said.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo has become a law onto himself and styled himself into another constitution of Ghana at whose whimsical behest the country is now run and that that must stop.

“Because as things stand now, we do not have any constitution in the country; our constitution now is Akufo-Addo; when he whimsically decides that this is the way or that is the way to go, then everyone must fall in line behind him. We cannot allow that to continue. Because law and democratic institutions were arranged so that we cannot have the government that we have voted for turn into a lion and eat us up,” General Mosquito warned.
