Court Deny Barker-Vormawor Bail Because He Has A Wife And He Has No Wife

The cringe-fest around the human rights abuse of incarcerated #FixTheCountry Convener, Oliver Barker-Vormawor goes on unabated as the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame claims the UK-based wife turned out not to be his wife, but the freedom fighter’s wife is rather based in Ashaiman.

This was the basis the AG cited when asking the court to refuse Mr. Barker-Vormawor bail for his unconstitutional incarceration. According to the AG, the embattled #FixTheCountry convenor should not be granted bail because he has no residence in Ghana.

This is despite Oliver being a Ghanaian with his family and close associates well-known in Ghana.

“Following his arrest, applicant directed the Police officers to speak to a lady in the United Kingdom that the applicant claimed was his wife, which allegation eventually turned out to be false. Subsequently, another woman showed up at the Ashaiman Police station claiming to be the applicant’s wife,” Godfred Dame told the court.

The AG further told the court to deny him bail because he has no fixed place of abode and that this makes him a flight risk, he said.

“That investigations have revealed that the applicant has no fixed place of abode in Ghana thus making him a flight risk,” he said.

The request for the denial of bail is in spite of the fact that Barker-Vormawor was on Wednesday taken ill while in custody and rushed to the Police hospital.

He was arrested for allegedly writing on social media that he would stage a coup if the government passes the thievish E-levy bill.
