Sellout Paul Adom Otchere, Attacks Prof. Raymond Atuguba In Coup Hysteria

Metro TV’s Paul Adom Otchere, who has been cited for dubious procurements at the Ghana Airport Company as a Board Chairman, has launched scathing attacks on the Dean of the University of Ghana Law School, Prof. Raymond Atuguba.

The attack which as usual was launched from the studios of Metro TV owned by Lebanese-Ghanaian, Talal Fattal, was in reaction to Prof. Raymond Atuguba’s warning that the current security breakdown and economic hardships in Ghana could precipitate a coup d’etat.

The hysteria-inducing reaction that characterises the Akufo Addo administration anytime coup d’etat is mentioned, had gripped the clueless Adom-Otchere who went vulture on Prof. Atuguba, saying he [Atugubah] was possessed by demons for pointing out the potential threat and asking him to “repent”.

“You Dr. Atuguba, you were a member of John Mahama’s cabinet…did you call for a coup at that time? Did you know then that when there is economic hardship there will be coup?” A ranting Addom-Otchere fired.

“You broke all the economic bottles and glasses in the Jubilee House; everything was broken. No COVID, nothing…Dr. Atuguba did anybody say we should go and do coup when you and your administration put off the lights for years and the economy was down for years, did anybody say coup?”

Interestingly, what he is calling propaganda was a piece of mere advice that Prof. Atuguba was giving the Akufo-Addo government from a thesis that his friend who lectures at the War College in the USA had propounded.

At a public forum in Accra, Professor. Atugubah referenced one Samuel Huntington’s Ph.D. thesis and said the current economic situation could trigger a coup.

“We do not want a coup in this country yet I fear that if we do not act quickly, we may have one on our hands very soon. A former colleague doctoral Ph.D. student wrote his dissertation also on Ghana. He now teaches at a War College in the US. While my topic was on the Ghana Police, his topic was on the Ghana military,” Atugubah stated.

“Naturally, our paths intersected and we have remained friends since. My friend’s Ph.D. thesis was on the topic ‘Why certain coups succeed and why others fail;’ his case study was Ghana,”

The respected legal luminary had also used the opportunity to urge National Security Minister to contact the man who had done the thesis to have a discussion with him over his findings.

But reacting Adom Otchere claimed Prof. Atuguba was speaking lies; “Speak the truth…, don’t speak lies and propaganda influenced by evil. These kinds of propaganda are influenced by evil; it is coming from the pits of hell, when you look at the people who are talking…it is only evil that can make you do that,” an erratic Adom-Otchere fumed in an undignifying posture in the TV studio.

The reaction of Adom-Otchere described as a “corrupt stomach journalist” is understandable, given the fact that he is an appointee of Akufo-Addo and could be on cue for the guillotine should a coup d’état erupt in Ghana.

And it is not only Mr. Adom Otchere who has benefitted from the scandal-prone Akufo-Addo regime; his wife too had recently received a juicy appointment from Akufo-Addo.

In January 2022 Rosemary Beryl-Archer was appointed Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Banking/Business at the Ghana Exim Bank.

Meanwhile, as the GACL Chairman, Paul Adom Otchere was in the news in December over the scandalous splurge of a whopping Ghc128,000 on Christmas trees at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

When the issue blew up, Mr. Adom-Otchere claimed he had not sanctioned Ghc128,000 but Ghc78,000 on the Christmas trees.
