MP for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George Nartey, has called the bluff of the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, after the Suame MP vowed to get the budget’s rejection reversed and passed.
Responding to the Majority Leader’s vow in a Joy News interview, Hon. Sam George fired:
“Forget him and the noise he is making. It was a first-timer MP who has not spent even one full year in Parliament that ordered him tom walk out and he followed like a form 1 boy following the SP.”
Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has been all over town threatening to have the rejection of the budget on Friday reversed because supposedly, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin had unconstitutionally called the vote at the time that the Majority was out of the Chamber.
The Majority has set Tuesday, December 1, 2021, as the day they plan to cause chaos in Parliament and reverse the fate of the rejected national budget, while the Speaker is away in Dubai on medical leave.
Apparently, the Majority aims to get Bagbin’s Deputy, Joe Osei Wusu, who is also a member of the NPP, to preside in another vote. However, experts have warned this will amount to a coup d’état that could gravely undermine the country’s democracy.
Minority MPs have also been called on to ensure that they do not allow the Majority group to undermine the country’s democracy this way.
On social media, NDC MPs have been reminding the NPP MPs that in such a treasonous move being planned, the constitution gives them responsibility, even by force of arms, to resist.
