Share the post "60 Of Mahama‘s E-Blocks Have Been Completed And Put Into Use"
The Akufo-Addo government has managed to complete 31 out of the 124 community Day schools that the Mahama government had started and bequeathed to the current government at various stages of development in 2017.
This is according to a statement by the Ministry of Education (MoE).
According to a statement by the Ministry, a total of 60 completed schools have been operationalized and are currently in use. The remaining 64 projects have been categorized into 3 groups currently at different levels of completion.
In the release dated 21st October 2021 on the Official Facebook Page and signed by Mr. Kwasi Kwarteng the spokesperson for MoE, it said 124 out of the 200 Day Schools were awarded as a contract by the Mahama government.
It added that 101 out of the 124 was funded by the then government in two phases.
“Phase I of the project consist of 50 schools and began in March 2014. Phase II was made up of 51 schools and started in July 2015. The World Bank funded the construction of the additional 23 in districts under SEIP,” MoE stated.
The release came after the Education Minister, Dr. Edtwum, had been summoned before Parliament to explain why many of the E-Blocks bequeathed to the government remain uncompleted five years on.
According to the Education Ministry, from 2017 to date, 31 new schools have been constructed by the Akufo-Addo government bringing the total number of completed projects to 60 as of September 2020.
It assured that other school blocks are being constructed and will be completed soon.
