…creators of children’s cartoon superheroes announce
DC Comics, the US comic group which created the Super Man character has announced they are changing his sexual preferences in their next issue slated for November.
Millions of children fans of Super Man, including kids in Ghana, will see him kiss, fondle and have sex with another man – his friend, Jay Nakamura.
DC Comics made the announcement on National Coming Out Day, an annual LGBT awareness day started in the US.
The storyline is part of ‘Superman: Son of Kal-El’, a series following the superhero as he takes on the mantle of Superman from his father, Clark Kent.
The announcement that Super Man is going to be having homosexual sex in the next issue of the series almost certainly means DC Comics is saying goodbye to some markets, especially those in the Arab world.
The latest series begun in July and so far, Jon has already fought wildfires caused by climate change, foiled a high school shooting, and protested against the deportation of refugees, reports the BBC.
In an earlier issue, Jon struck up a friendship with Jay – a bespectacled, pink-haired reporter.
DC Comics said the pair will become romantically involved in the upcoming fifth issue after Jon “mentally and physically burns out from trying to save everyone that he can”.
