-As Old Enemies form Family alliance
The reported marriage of Kwabena Jumah, a son of the Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, and Edwina Nana Dokua Akufo-Addo the third daughter of President Akufo Addo, has raised curiosity at the strange alliance, given Kofi Jumah’s previously-stated undignified view of President Akufo Addo.
Around 2015 when President Akufo Addo was still campaign to become President, Kofi Jumah had been reportedly caught on a secret tape where he had used uncharitable words to describe his current in-law at the helm of affairs at the Jubilee House.
Kofi Jumah was a Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development in the erstwhile John Kuffour administration and had had no love lost between him and then-Candidate Akufo Addo when he said Akufo Addo would be a “terrible president”.
When President Akufo Addo appointed Kofi Jumah to head GIHOC, many critics had thought the President was using the position to win back one of his fiercest opponents within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Unknown to critics, however, the smoked peace pipe may have been influenced by the relationship of their children.
It is unclear how long Edwina Akufo Addo and Kwabena Jumah had been dating before their official confirmation of marriage.
In videos that have gone viral, an unmasked President Akufo Addo was gleefully dancing with his daughter when the First Family organised the official customary right of the President’s daughter at the seat of government in the Jubilee House.
Many other dignitaries and traditional chiefs present at the event were seen completely disregarding the social distancing and masking protocols prescribed by the Akufo Addo government against COVID-19.
