-After Assembly Members Fail Akufo-Addo’s DCE Nominee
Aggrieved youth of the ruling New Patriotic Party in Juaboso in the Sehwi Juaboso district of the Western North Region, on Wednesday, besieged the district Assembly building in the area to demand a refund of bribes that had allegedly been paid to facilitate the confirmation of President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for district Chief Executive.
As part of the rampage in the cause to demand justice for Mr. Godfred Kwabena Adjei, the angry youth brandished offensive weapons including sticks while raining curses on the supposed Assembly Members with greasy palms.
Reportedly, the bribe packages had ranged from Ghc1, 000 to Ghc4, 000 for the 23 Assembly members, however, after “chopping” the money, the Assembly Members disappointed provoking demands for them to cough the money back.
It took the timely intervention of the Juaboso police to save the Assembly Members from the irate party youth.
But concerns have been expressed about the safety of their family members and their homes.
Mr. Godfred Kwabena Adjei only managed to secure 11 votes out of 23, failing miserably to secure the two-thirds majority votes required for his confirmation in spite of the alleged bribing spree.
