Popular broadcast journalist, Bridget Otoo, has tweeted that she was robbed in her shop on Wednesday morning, as Ghana experiences an explosion in armed robbery incidents.
According to her, two gunmen invaded her shop and snatched the day’s sales from her shop attendant amidst gunshots.
“Two guys on a bike fired two warning shots and pulled the gun on my shop attendant and took the morning’s cash sales of 500 cedis,” she tweeted.
According to reports, the salesgirl is safe but is visibly shaken by the incident.
The crime dovetails into the wave of violent crimes, especially armed robbery that has been punctuating national life in Ghana.
On Tuesday, the Police in Accra engaged in a shootout with robbers at Ashaiman, a suburb of Accra which resulted in the killing of two of the reprobates.
Then on Wednesday, another gang was engaged in a shootout with the Police in the Ashanti Region, which also resulted in the killing of two of the robbers.
