The Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital started under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration is being smuggled into President Akufo Addo’s Agenda 111 project, Whatsup News has gathered.
The health facility that was completed in November 2020 has remained unused.
The people of Yilo Krobo are suspecting that the government’s refusal to commission it is so that it can add it into its Agenda 111, the project to build 88 new hospitals and upgrade 13.
The suspicion is strengthened by the fact that the Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital has not been listed as one of the official hospitals of the Ministry of Health, including on platform www.ghanahospitals.org, even though the Somanya Polyclinic is well listed.
In November 2020, officials of the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service (GHS), officially received the hospital in a technical handing over ceremony at Somanya from the contractors, Vamed Engineering Gh. Ltd.
The facility is the first major hospital in the Yilo Krobo Municipality. Its accessories include
a laboratory, administration, male and female medical wards, surgical wards, maternity ward, and NICU, two operating theaters, public health unit, ancillary facilities, a standby generator, waste disposal system, etc.
After it was officially handed over by the contractors, the hospital is expected to commence full operations in three months.
