Four unidentified cattle herders reportedly shot a 40-year-old father, Kwabena Quaye, and raped his daughter in turns at Gomoa Adeantem in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The dastardly act has angered youth of the town who have demanded that the Police ensure justice or they take the law into their hands.
According to reports, the attack has since left both father and daughter in critical condition at the hospital where they have been put on admission.
Nana Essel Andoh, Chief of the town has also appealed to Acting Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, to bring the perpetrators to book to forestall mob justice.
“I know the laws of the country, so allowing the youth to take such action will be uncalled for, and that is why I involved the media in helping us fight this issue,” he said.
The young rape victim was said to have been saved by a Pastor who fired a warning shot from a gun after he heard the screams of the victim.
“They would have killed him and his daughter, so it was the pastor who called me. When the committee member got to the scene, they had shot and hurt Mr. Quaye, but the girl was nowhere to be found,” says the chief.
It was discovered that the herdsmen had taken the child into the bush where all four of them raped her.
“After the father was taken to the hospital, the pastor later heard the child crying, so they traced where the cry was coming from and found her lying naked. Then, according to her, all of them raped her. As I speak, the girl is on admission together with her father,” he said.
The chief warned that if the Police do not bring the perpetrators to book, the youth will be forced to resort to mob justice.
“I have not given any land to them to rare cattle. The other chiefs may have given them the land, so why are they scaring us on our land with their cattle.
