The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced that there will be traffic flow disruption on sections of the N1 Highway from Wednesday, the 23rd of June to Thursday, the 24th of June, 2021.
Specifically, the area of the highway near the Fiesta Royale Hotel will be the most impacted according to an announcement by the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA).
“This is to enable GRIDco to undertake the final stringing works, that involves removal of a section of the existing line which traverses the N1 Highway near the Fiesta Royale Hotel Junction,” the statement said.
It advised motorists to follow the traffic diversion signs to be placed at the various sections on the N1.
The N1 is one of the main nerves of road networks in Accra, linking areas like Achimota to the heart of Accra at the Tetteh Quashie Roundabout where tens of thousands of vehicles shuttle every day.
The announced disruption is therefore set to cause a major gridlock in Accra in the coming days.
