Employment Ministry Hits Dialogue Over New Minimum Wage

The Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations is convening a national tripartite committee meeting on Thursday to discuss to commence negotiation on a new national daily minimum wage.

Sector Minister, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has written to stakeholders to this effect, announcing the meeting is scheduled for 10 am in the Ministry’s conference room.

“The purpose of this meeting is to commence negotiations on the determination of the National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW),” the Minister wrote.

The scheduling of the meeting comes after sections of organized Labor agitated for a new minimum wage in February.

The Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) has already it expects significant improvement in the daily minimum wage after the next negotiation with the government.

At the moment, the daily minimum wage is Ghc11.82.
