NEDCo Blames GRIDCo For Two-Day Power Outage In Bono

The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has released a statement explaining that a blackout that has taken siege in the Bono region for the past two days is not their doing but that of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo).

Issued by the Corporate Communications and Customer Service unit of the NEDCo, the statement said the blackout is due to the GRIDCo’s inability to deliver power to NEDCo as a result of an accident involving a critical piece of equipment at the 161 substation.

“The Management of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) regrets to inform the general public especially, cherished customers served from the Berekum 161 Kv substation… and their surrounding areas that the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) is unable to deliver power to NEDCo due to a minor accident involving a critical piece of equipment at the 161 substation since last Friday, March 26, 2021,” the statement read.

“Please, accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by this power interruption and be assured that strenuous efforts are underway to resolve the challenge.”

Meanwhile, the people of the Region have been lamenting the situation. Reportedly, those worst hit are cold store operators.
