Akufo-Addo’s Spiritual Father Denies Prophesying Bawumia As Next NPP Flagbearer

President Akufo-Addo’s spiritual father, Isaac Owusu Bempah, has issued a disclaimer after a story emerged on social media that he had prophesied Vice President Bawumia as the next flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

A Facebook post responding to the story quoted the controversial cleric as saying that “nothing can stop Bawumia from becoming NPP’s flagbearer in 2024, the man who prophesied an Akufo-Addo Presidency three times before it finally happened, said he has never said any such thing anywhere.”

The statement read: “The attention of Apostle Dr. Isaac Owusu Bempah has been drawn to a false publication going viral on the internet and social media platforms alleging that Apostle Dr. Isaac Owusu Bempah has prophesied that, “Nothing can stop Bawumia from becoming NPP’s flagbearer in 2024.” The content of the said publication are false and must be disregarded by all well-meaning Ghanaians.”

“Apostle Dr. Isaac Owusu Bempah implores the general public and well-meaning Ghanaians to disregard the false story and treat it with all the contempt it deserves.”

He adds that he has referred the matter to his lawyers for possible prosecution. “Further, Apostle Dr. Isaac Owusu Bempah has referred the matter to his lawyers for advice, and we shall suggest to all those peddling false news about Prophet Owusu Bempah to desist from doing so forthwith.”

The reaction leaves the Bawumia campaign the poorer with the race for a successor to Akufo-Addo kicking off hotly within the governing party.
