Three more people have died of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) according to the latest update from the Ghana Health Service.
The deaths have inched up Ghana’s fatalities from the virus to 341.
175 new infections have also been recorded, bringing the country’s cumulative cases to 56,981 according to the Ghana Health Service. The new infections are from tests conducted on January 11, 2021.
So far, active cases have risen from 1,330 to 1,404. Forty (40) of the cases are severe according to the GHS with four (4) considered critical. However, a total of 55,236 patients have recovered or have been discharged after being admitted.
Out of the total confirmed cases, 22,679 were from the General Surveillance; 33,384 from the Enhanced Contact Tracing, while 918 have been recorded from international travelers at the Kotoka International Airport after it was reopened on September 1, 2020.
According to the update, the positivity rate is 5.36 percent.
The Greater Accra and the Ashanti regions continue to have the highest number of infections in the country with cumulative cases of 31,953 and 11,285 respectively.
