Ghana coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor insists his main goal will be to improve individual players which will collectively affect the team’s performance.
Akonnor was named coach of the Black Stars in January, but he is yet to make his debut as manager of the team after games in March were cancelled due to coronavirus.
Despite the high stakes at place, C.K Akonnor is more concerned with the individual progress of his players.
“I’m looking forward to improving individual players and improve the team as a result,” he told Citi TV.
“[Once] the team improves, it affects their play. That is my goal. So every time I am thinking about who can fit into certain positions and how we can play. Overall I just want to improve the team.”
With most of the players set to return to football after the coronavirus break, the ex-Black Stars captain revealed he has been in touch with his players.
“I’ve been trying to stay in touch with the [Black Stars] players while they are at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We usually chat via video calls. I also read lots of books to keep myself ready,” said Akonnor.
