Asante Kotoko’s Kwame Kyei appears before Manhyia Committee

The executive Board chairman of Asante Kotoko has appeared before the committee investigating the financial state and dealings of the club under his tenure.

The oil magnate, Kwame Kyei, together with other members of his management appeared before the committee headed by Prof. Lydia Nkansah, Dean of the Faculty of Law, KNUST, in turns.

A reliable Starr FM sports source indicated that the executive Board Chairman appeared before the committee accompanied by his Lawyer, and football administrator, Jonathan Abbey Pobi today.

The three-member committee was set up by the Club’s Owner and Life Patron, His Majesty Otumfuor Osei Tutu II to investigate the financial management and dealings of the current management who are in their fourth year at the club.

Kwame Kyei’s tenure as the Kotoko Chief has come under serious scrutiny after the club was heavily fined by FIFA for failing to adhere to an earlier order from the world’s governing body for football coupled with other engagements and disengagement’s of players and coaches that have led to the club paying some heavy compensation packages plus the club’s inability to meet requirements of the Ghana Football Association’s club licensing committee.

Other members of the Asante Kotoko management team that appeared before the committee at the Manhyia House of Chiefs where the committee has been sitting are George Amoako(CEO) and Nana Gyambibi, General Manager.

The Manhyia 3-member investigative committee was given four weeks to carry out their mandate and submit a report to Otumfuor after which a decision will be made on Kwame Kyei’s three-year stewardship of the club.
