Share the post "NTC Directs Employers To Enforce Complianec With Covid-19 Protocols At Work Places"
The National Tripartite Committee (NTC), made up of Employers, Labour and Government, has directed employers across the country to adjust their work places to make them responsive for the Covid-19 protocols that the World Health Organization (WHO) has directed.
In a resolution after an Emergency meeting on the 21st of April, it directed all employers to ensure that the necessary accoutrement, including PPEs such as face masked are provided to all employers at the workplace.
The meeting which was Chaired by Employment Minister, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, also directed all employers to constitute ‘Safety Committees’ at the work places to specifically deal with Covid-19.
It was co-signed with the Employment Minister by Mr. Daniel Acheampong, President of the Ghana Employers Association and Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress.
Employers are also to appoint Focal Persons to spearhead the Covid-19 response at the workplace and such focal persosn should be able to liaise with health professionals in case of covid-19 outbreak at the workplace.
It also asked Unions to coax out workers’ collaboration with employers to ensure adherence to the Covid-19 protocols prescribed by the WHO and Ministry o0f Health are strictly adhered to at the workplace.
Labour department and Department of Factories Inspectorate, it said, should monitor compliance with WHO MHO safety guidelines on covid 19 at work place, adding that Covid 19 Committees from the various MMDAs should intensify education on covid-19 in their respective communities.
