Thomas Partey’s agent pours cold water on reported talks with Arsenal

Representatives of Thomas Partey have rejected reports that their client has opened discussions with English side Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made the Ghana international his top target as he looks for a new defensive-minded midfielder.

The 26-year-old has a £43million buy-out clause in his contract but Atletico Madrid are thought to want to tie him down to a new contract to prevent him leaving.

His dynamism, ability on the ball and defensive contributions have clearly caught the eye of Arteta, with Arsenal having been in contact with his representatives.

The player’s father, Jacob Partey during an interview with Tru FM claimed that his son has opened talks with English giants Arsenal over a possible switch in the summer.

However, Partey’s representatives have issued a strong denial of the claims, ‘It’s totally untrue,’ JJSports, Partey’s representatives, said of the reported Arsenal negotiations.

He is a key player for Diego Simeone and shone in their two-legged Champions League defeat of European champions Liverpool before football’s coronavirus-enforced break.
