AFUA POKUA at daggers-Drawn With NPP

The hard-hitting journalist Afia Pokuaa formerly of Adom FM had dared the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) that she will not budge to their threats and attacks on her person.

Ms Pokuaa recently lashed out at the governing party for sending out gangs of party communicators to terrorise critical media persons.

“Dear NPP politicians, No amount of threats and attacks will stop the media from asking questions and running commentary over government policies funded with TAX MONEY and not your POCKET money just as you did under previous governments. Our job is not to SING the praises of government like a choir,” she slammed the ruling party on her Facebook page.

“When the media questioned and criticized previous governments for their actions in; Bus Branding, GITMO detainees, Ford scandal, WOYOME scandal( You even composed a song for that matter)
You saw it as an opportunity to do your thing. Now the tables have turned and the same media is questioning and criticizing your decisions you send your GANG out to attack the same media to SHUT us up.” She wrote.

A cross-section of the Ghanaian media has been quite critical about the strange decision of the government through the Ministry of Communications to organise a musical concert to launch a Covid-19 tracking mobile application.

Ms Pokuaa was lambasted by NPP communicators for her critique of the concert. But Ms Pokuaa insists that she would continue to hold government accountable as long as she is alive.

“I will continue doing that as long as I live,’ she pledged.

The Akufo Addo administration has earned an unenviable reputation as being particularly averse to media criticism and several journalists have been targeted since the regime was voted into power in December 2019.

One Journalists, Ahmed Hussein-Suale has been assassinated for exposing a revealing scandal involving top personality at the presidency and the disgraced former President of the Ghana Football Association. Kwasi Nyantakyi.
