Unprotected Nurses And Midwives Advised To Run For Their Lives From Covid 19

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives’ Association (GRNMA) has advised its members who are in the frontlines of care giving to let discretion be the better part of valor in their encounters with patients with full blown covid 19 symptoms.

Where these frontline care givers working in isolation centers are not given adequate protective logistics, the GRNMA advises them to run away for dear life.

“in the event of the unavailability of these logistics at the isolation centers, we strongly advise our Nurses and Midwives to protect their lives by removing themselves from that environment,” the statement from the Association said.

The statement which was signed by its President, Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo and General Secretary, David Tenkorang Twum, emphasized that the government and its relevant agencies have responsibility to provide protective equipment.

It however, also urged all Nurses and Midwives to take responsibility for their personal safety and as much as possible ensure that they are able to protect themselves at all times.
