Military officers who acted as bodyguards in full military uniform for the musician popularly known as “Medikal”, have been reportedly arrested.
The soldiers acted as escorts during this weekend’s traditional wedding of Medikal and Fella Makafui at Adjringanor near East Legon in Accra.
According to online
news portal Ghanaweb, the Head of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces,
Colonel Eric Aggrey Quarshie revealed in an interview that the soldiers who
were present at the ceremony in their uniforms have been arrested pending
investigations.
The military PRO warned that the practice of Military officers in uniform
making appearances at private events without approval had become “one too
many”, and hence the need to clamp it.
The soldiers were seen in viral videos of the plush wedding protected the new
couple in full military garb-including wielding assault rifles.
Military officers are increasingly taking liberty at engaging in private engagements in full uniform, a trend that the GAF and the general public finds dangerous.
