The Agona West Constituency branch of ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its Chairman, Kojo Addo.
The suspension which happened today was in reaction to his secret recording of the embattled Minister for Environment and Science, Prof. Frimpong Boateng, while Prof. Boateng was revealing how he had led a clandestine agenda to reallocate seized excavators from illegal miners to NPP party people.
The secret video recording features Prof. Frimpong Boateng clearly revealing that the excavators were shared among party people for the purpose of they using them for illegal mining so that money can be generated for the party.
After the suspension had been announced, the Agona West NPP Executives said the issue has also been referred to the Central regional Disciplinary Committee of the party.
It is not clear if this suspension was a result from the party’s
consideration of a petition that had been filed by polling station executives of the party,
Idriss Ali Musa and Kwame Issaka, who
wanted the constituency chairman suspended or expelled from the party.
“We write as petitioners to invoke article 3 (7)
and (8) of the NPP constitution as amended to suspend and or expel Mr. AFANKWAH
(A.K.A) KOJO ADDO from the party for misconducting himself within the meaning
of Article 4(7) (1) a, b, , c, e, f and g of the NPP Party Constitution as
Amended,” the petitioner averred.
they had accused the Agona West Chairman of
recording and publishing the video with malicious intention to cause; “that he
went into the meeting with malicious intent to incriminate the minister, Prof.
Frimpong Boateng.
“That he recorded the video with the intention of bringing in the
minister and all those persons the video captured orally into the alleged
criminal activities that the police are investigating into; that he recorded
and published the said video to tarnish the reputation of the minister and the
entire NPP party and the government and those persons mentioned including the
General Secretary of the party, Mr. John Boadu
”That he conspired with Mr. Ekow Ewusie to
mortify the good name of the party and the government by recording and
publishing the said video.”
Mr. Kojo Addo had allegedly planted cameras during a conversation over the missing galamsey excavators that Prof. Frimpong Boateng, whon is also head of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, had had with Horace Ekow Ewusi, the Central Regional Chairman of the NPP.
Thenceforth, Mr. Addo has been defending Mr. Ewusi on media platforms, claiming, the invitation to the Police to investigate him was a deliberate set-up to make him the fall guy for something that the whole party participated in.
