President Akufo-Addo has announced that victims of various microfinance companies which collapsed, either as a result fraud or Government’s clean up of the financial sector, will start receiving reimbursement from government this month.
Presenting the 2020 State of the Nation Address (SONA) today, the President said he has received confirmation that payments will begin on the 24th of February.
According to him, beneficiaries include people who lost their investments as far back as 2015, including those who had invested with DKM.
Government, he said, is committing a total of Ghc5billion towards the repayments. This amount will add on to the Ghc13billion that has already been spent on the clean up of the financial sector.
