One suspect has been arrested by the Asokwa District Police after a phone belonging to him was found at the scene where a 37-year-old nurse was allegedly raped and murdered.
The name of the suspect is not readily available, but according to reports the suspect’s mobile phone was found at the very scene where the lifeless body of Ruth Arhin was discovered.
The unknown suspect is said to have since been aiding the Police with an investigation into the heinous crime.
His alleged victim’s lifeless body was found a few meters away from her home at Sewua in the Ashanti region, on the morning of February 4, 2020.
The mother of 3 is said to have gone to work on February 3 and failed to return home, only for her lifeless body to be discovered the next day.
There since have been conflicting reports about the state of the body at the time that it was discovered, with one version holding that the body had borne marks of assault, depicting that she had struggled with her assailant. A second version of the report, which is said to have come from a family member, holds that there had been no signs of struggle when the body was discovered.
However, it appears the two versions agree that when the victim’s body was found, her panties had been pulled down suggesting that she had been raped before being murdered.
The Asokwa District Police have since deposited the body to a morgue as investigation opened into the matter.
