The immediate past President of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Joseph Osei, has become the subject of alleged embezzlement after completing his course.
Allegedly, he siphoned over Ghc70, 000 of the SRC’s money while he was President and has not been able to account for the money.
As a result, the Management of GIMPA has impounded his certificate and thus disallowed him to graduate even though he completed school last year.
It is not clear if Management has any plans to call in the Police, but sources say that Management wants him to pay the money before he can receive his certificate.
Meanwhile, members of the current General Assembly of the GIMPA SRC, is said to be pressuring Management to get the Police involved so that the immediate past President will be prosecuted.
The Assembly is said to have also demanded from Management that Joseph Osei be made to refund the money that he allegedly stole with interest before his certificate is released to him.
Mr. Osei has not been available to give his side of the story. He is alleged to have used his tenure as President of GIMPA to siphon more than Ghc70, 000 from the coffers of the SRC.
He is alleged to have committed the crime with the connivance of members of his Administration, some of whom have since fled abroad.
