NDC Plans to Drag Akufo-Addo To ICC Over Ayawaso —Over Ayawaso West Wuogon Violence

National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Capt. Rtd. Joshua Akamba, has revealed plans to drag President Akufo-Addo to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence after he leaves power.

In an interview on the sidelines of the curious one-year commemorative durbar of the violence, Capt. Rtd. Akamba vowed that the sitting President will never be allowed to get away with the crime.

“let Nana Akufo-Addo know, that he cannot get away with this, from the video I saw, Nana Addo can be a candidate for the international criminal court for justice,” Joshua Akamba said.

He added that, “I think that when the party (NDC) wins, I will go to the ICC with this matter and I will drag the former President Akufo-Addo to the ICC. I promise him that.”
Capt. Rtd. Akamba’s revelation was made on the sidelines of the commemoration of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence which led to the maiming of at least one person.

NPP Party thugs, dressed in National Security attire had stormed the East Legon house of the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate in that by-election and opened fire on unarmed civilians.

The violence led to the hospitalization of many, with at least one person, said to have suffered an amputation as a result.

After the violence, the Akufo-Addo government had set up a Commission of Inquiry into the violence, but had later rejected most of the recommendations of the Commission.

Today, Capt. Rtd. Joshua Akamba said the only thing protecting President Akufo-Addo from prosecution is his being President and that immediately he leaves power and NDC assumes the reins of office.

Meanwhile, the commemorative durbar had been addressed by notable voices including Kwesi Pratt Jnr., National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and the MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam George Nettey.

Mr. Nettey who had suffered a physical attack on his person also vowed that he and the other victims of the violence will not be cowed and that no matter how long it takes, they will get justice.

“He rather gave me a voice, he gave a voice to millions of well-meaning Ghanaians to speak our collective truth to power. Our spirits remain unbroken and our resolve remains as strong as ever to seek justice. The pressure from Ghanaians compelled the chief despot, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to set up a commission of enquiry, the Emile Short Commission. He and his cabal expected that that commission would deliver a whitewash of the event, they were wrong.

“We appeared before the Commission and told the truth as we knew it and saw it and we backed it by irrefutable evidence. Forensic test by the Commission and sight visit corroborated our story and exposed the lies of the National Security set up.”
