EC, IPAC Crunch Meeting Descends Into Blows

The crunch meeting that the Electoral Commission held today with the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) at the behest of the EC’s Council of Eminent Advisors ended in a spectacular trade of blows at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel this evening.

Kofi Akpaloo, leader and founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) and the General Secretary of Hassan Ayariga’s All People’s Congress (APC) openly exchanged slaps and punches to close the dialogue which was heavily punctuated with tension.

It took the intervention of clergymen around to separate the two participants in the brawl.

It has since been gathered that the fight started as a verbal exchange between Hassan Ayariga, leader of APC and Mr. Akpaloo who has recently been accused of advocating the compilation of new register after receiving payment from Jubilee House.

Apparently, the General Secretary of Dr. Ayariga’s party could not stand Akpaloo’s temerity to exchange words with the founder and leader of his party and took the side of Ayariga.

As Akpaloo’s LPG is a one man party, he did not have a General Secretary to fight on his behalf. Soon, the exchanges degenerated into fisticuff, with the two men exchanging blows, hooks and punches.

The meeting itself, which traveled beyond the initial two-hour timeline, into five hours is said to have ended inconclusively. It is not clear if a planned communiqué will still be issued.
