Justice Eric Kyei- Baffour, a High Court Judge who has been fingered for corruption by social media commentator, Kevin Ekow Taylor, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the United States-based Kevin Taylor.
The warrant is for Taylor to appear before the court for what the aggrieved judge says amounts to contempt of court.
Justice Eric Kyei- Baffour, a Justice of the Court of Appeal, sitting as a High Court judge, issued the warrant today following a video of social media revealing damning allegations against the said judge.
It is unclear if a judge accused of wrongdoing can be the same judge dishing out warrants against his accuser.
According to Kevin Taylor, Justice Kyei-Baffour was promoted to the Court of Appeal from the High Court by President Akufo Addo because he was doing the bidding of the government in the trial of the five people accused of embezzling $4 million belonging to the National Communications Authority (NCA).
In his ruling today, Justice Kyei- Baffour said the video by Taylor sought to incite people against him and the court
“As a judge of impeccable integrity and utmost honesty, I find it necessary to invoke the powers vested in me under the constitution to proceed and cite him for contempt. I issue a warrant for him to be produced before the court to show cause why he should not be committed to prison,” Justice Kyei- Baffour ruled.
Mr. Tailor, using his “With All Due Respect” video blogging platform, revealed that Justice Kyei Baffour is a government hatchet man on a mission to jail the defendants in the NCA case by hook or crook.
According to Mr. Taylor, Justice Kyei Baffour, is also bending the law to have the accused found guilty because of a mission to help National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, get revenge on one of the accused whom he suspects of sleeping with his girlfriend.
Kan Dapaah allegedly feels deceived by a woman with whom he has kids, and believes that the children were in reality fathered by Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie, the former Board Chairman of the NCA.
Baffoe-Bonnie is facing charges of causing financial loss to the State in the case that also involves William Tetteh Tevie, former Director-General NCA, Nana Owusu Ensaw, former Board member, Alhaji Salifu Mimina Osman, former Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Mr. George Oppong.
They are accused of causing financial loss of US$4million to the State over the purchase of surveillance equipment for the NCA. Ensaw, was in addition charged with stealing and money laundering.
The accused in the past pled no case but Justice Kyei Baffour, the trial judge asked them to open their defense, saying the prosecution had proven a prima facie case. According to Ekow Taylor, Justice Eric Kyei Baffuor has long been on an agenda to find the accused guilty by hook or crook to make the NPP look good and also satisfy Kan Dapaah’s desire for revenge.
Calling the trial a scam, he demanded in his latest video that new Chief Justice, Anin Yeboah, open an enquiry into Kyei Baffuor and reassign the case to a different judge. Failure to do this, he said, would force him to release incriminating videos and audio recordings of the trial judge conferring with Kan Dapaah and other government officials on how he will do everything to ensure that the accused are found guilty.
“I can say on authority that Justice Eric Kyei Baffuor is operating on the orders of the President and Mr. Kan Dapaah this was the reason that the NCA case was jumped straight to the Commercial Court where Kyei Baffuor operates so that he will execute this government’s agenda.
“In the weeks to come I will release audios and videos of Justice Eric Kyei Baffour interaction with these people on how Mr. Kan Dapaah wants to use the courts to settle personal issues between himself and one of the accused Baffoe-Bonnie. The National Security Minister and this Bonnie man are chasing the same lady,” Mr. Taylor stated.
